Jaxin Albersworth

July 18th 2011

On behalf of Rob Albersworth, we must sadly announce that his son, Jaxin, passed away July 18th 2011

at the Northern Lights Hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Jaxin will be resting at St. Pauls Catholic Church in Thickwood.

There will be visitation from 7 PM until 9 PM on Friday July 22nd.

The service to honour Jaxin will be held at 11am on Saturday July 23rd.


James (Jim) Dowling

August 3rd 2010

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of brother James (Jim) Dowling on Tuesday August 3rd, 2010 at the age of 51. Jim fought a courageous battle against cancer and will be dearly missed by his friends and co-workers in Calgary. Jim leaves behind his loving wife and friend of 22 years Terri, his son Riley and daughter Jamie.  

The funeral was held Friday August 6 2010 at the ‘Chapel Of the Bells’ located in Calgary. Donations can be made to:

Edward Rensch

June 11th 2010
June 2010, Edward Rensch and his wife Diane were tragically killed earlier this month in a motorcycle crash.

Ed had been with the machinists since 1980 with local 692, and had been with local 99 since 1994.

Ed and his wife will both be greatly missed. The funeral was June 11th 2010 at North Pointe Community Church.

Cameron D. Miller

March 16th 2010

Cameron passed from this world into the next after a fatal motorcycle crash. Cameron had been a member

since 2003 and was working at the Suncor site (br. 42). The Funeral service was held March 22nd 2010 by

Serenity Funeral Services.


Dennis Caswell

December 23rd 2009
Dennis Caswell lost his battle with cancer.

Dennis was a member for the last few years and was a respected member of the branch.

Dennis will be sadly missed by many and will never be forgotten.

May there be plenty of Heffer Dust (coffee whitener) where ever you are.


Stanislaw "Stan" Mazur

December 14th 2009
Stan Mazur passed away.

Stan was a member of local 99 for 11 years and worked at branch 47 (West Edmonton Branch).

The funeral was held Tues Dec. 22, 2009.


James Leahy

March 30th 2009
James Leahy passed away after a brave fight with cancer.

He will be missed by all. James is survived by his son, 2 sisters, 3 brothers, 7 nieces and nephews.

Donations can be made to the cross cancer institute.


Kelly Mercir

April 9th 2009
Kelly Mercier of branch 47 passed away, after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 46 years.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Donna; two Daughters, and Stepdaughter.

A funeral service was held April 15th 2009.

He will be greatly missed by members from far and wide.


Michelin Villeux

October 18th 2009
The IAMAW has learned that Michelin Villeux had been killed in an automobile accident.

Michelin was leaving work (Mildred Lake) that afternoon to head home.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and co-workers.


Don Poggemiller
We here at IAMAW have learned that Don Poggemiller has passed away.

Don had joined us through the Collicutt transition and had 30 long years working as a

field electrician commissioning power systems packages with Red Deer Power Systems.

Don was unfortunately victim of a non-work related vehicle collision.

A memorial for Don has been set up at the Sylvan Lake Community Savings Credit Union under the name of

Don Poggemiller Trust to be used to enhance playground equipment at a children's park.


Kevin Grocutt
The IAMAW is saddened to learn that another one of it's members has been taken from us.
His Wife Anne Marie summed it up by saying

"Kevin loved being a mechanic, Fords, 4x4'ing, mud bogging, street biking, camping, fishing,

living life to its fullest, his family, friends, helping people, but most of all his daughter Alyssa.


Julius Mraz

May 29th 2008
It is with great sadness that we at the IAMAW local 99 announce the passing of brother Julius Mraz.

Julius passed as a result of complications due to his lung condition.
He was with the company for this his 40th year and was 60 years young.

Known for his Turbocharger and Engine Accessories work, he was a pillar of strength for all our members,

a great wealth of information and a great person with a wonderful sense of humor.

Julius will be missed by all the brothers and sisters of this union.
